Dear Community Supporter,

In recognition of community volunteerism, the Volunteer Center of Door County is pleased to announce the 10th annual Golden Heart Volunteer Celebration presented by Ministry Door County Medical Center and the Volunteer Center. This event will be held at Stone Harbor Resort on Thursday evening, April 26, 2012. Join us as we celebrate "Volunteers…Growing our Community" and the tremendous impact of volunteerism right here in Door County.

Someone told me of a conversation they overheard at last year's event that included this comment: "The evening was beautiful. This is definitely the "feel good" event of the year."

These people were inspired to get out and volunteer and were even naming organizations that they were planning to contact! I truly believe that we are accomplishing our mission, but there is always more work to be done!

The Golden Heart Volunteer Celebration:

  • Provides a setting for our community to affirm and say, "Thank You!" to local volunteers.
  • Highlights Door County nonprofit agencies through which volunteers serve.
  • Supports Volunteer Center programming to meet the volunteer needs of our community.

Each nominated volunteer attends the event as our dinner guest and is individually recognized. Each Golden Heart award recipient will receive a unique art piece created by Chad Luberger of Plum Bottom Pottery. In addition, the Youth category award recipient will receive a $500 academic scholarship. The Adult, Lifetime of Service, Group and Arts & Culture category recipients will receive $500 to donate to a Door County charity of their choice. We also welcome philanthropist and women's health care advocate, Marti Spittell Ziegelbauer, as our returning Master of Ceremonies.

How can you participate?

Consider nominating an outstanding volunteer in our community. Become a Program, Table or Volunteer Sponsor. Make a financial or in-kind donation to support this event and the mission of the Volunteer Center.
